*Let's Kill Some Trees* is a font utility which allows one to print samples of uninstalled fonts. It can construct a font catalog from a large font library or collection on CD-ROM without the hassle of installation.
This program is a follow-up of the highly acclaimed *The Show Must Go FOND* (Ok, I exaggerate.) All the people who wrote to me singing its praises (there were 4 or 5) said that TSMGF was nice but deficient--the addition of printing (i.e., tree killing) capability would greatly improvement it. The desires of the masses (well, the 4 or 5) swayed me more than the desires of the trees. (Seriously, there is a lesson here on the influence a single use can have on shareware and freeware products.)
Printing unstalled fonts violates some Apple rule or regulation. LKST pays the price for this transgression--it is incompatible with background printing. One must turn off background printing or else LKST will print garbage.
LKST is beta. I have not tested it on a wide variety of hardware or print drivers. I would like to know where it works and where it does not. Any suggestions for improvement are also welcome.
LKST will not run once Mac's clock is set later than 12-31-95. It may not be included with any product which is primarily a collection of typefaces. It may not be redistributed after 1995. Other than that, it may included on any CD-ROM or disk if the publisher has a policy of making a free copy available to authors.
